Loewe Madrid, founded in 1846 is LVMH's (Louis Vuitton Group) oldest luxury fashion house. By the 1970s, Loewe was expanding into perfumes and fashion with the creation of the Loewe anagram logo, designed by Spanish painter Vicente Vela. Giorgio Armani and Laura Biagiotti subsequently designed Loewe's womenswear collections. Loewe has a long history of supplying the Royal House of Spain— that's about as luxurious as it gets. Loewe was inspired by Butterflies for this signature scarf. Spain has the highest population of butterflies in Europe, with over 230 different species with exotic colors and shapes. Butterflies have also had a presence in Spanish culture for centuries (from Velázquez to Modernism), represented hundreds of times in paintings, sculptures and other art forms.
